The East African Community (EAC), together with education partners, convened the Second East African Community Regional Education Conference, held from 25–28 August 2026 at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya. The conference brought together Ministers, senior government officials, development partners, civil society organizations, academia, and other education stakeholders from across the region.

The conference provided an important platform for peer learning, knowledge exchange, and dialogue on developments and transformations in education, with a focus on strengthening education as a foundation for regional integration and development. The discussions were aligned with the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA) and aimed at building on the commitments and progress made since the inaugural conference held in Arusha, Tanzania, in August 2024.

The photo brings together key education leaders and stakeholders, including Prof. Adolf Mkenda, Minister of Education, Science and Technology; Dr. Festo Dugange, Deputy Minister, PMO-RALG; Mamadou Lamine Sow, Chief of Education and Senior Programme Specialist at the UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa in Nairobi; Mr. Khamis Abdulla Said, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Vocational Training Zanzibar; Dr. Maulid J. Maulid, Chief Executive Officer of ADEM; and ADEM/ACSL staff. Their participation reflects the shared commitment to advancing quality, inclusive, and transformative education across East Africa.
