The workshop brings together key school leadership stakeholders from across the continent, from 18 countries, including policymakers, professional development providers, researchers, school leaders, and education officials.

Officially opened by the Director General of the Ministry of Education Kenya Dr. Elyas Abdi Jillaow, the workshop aims to review and validate the draft mapping findings, ensure continental and regional perspectives are adequately reflected, identify remaining evidence gaps, and co-create a continental roadmap for strengthening school leadership systems.

The initiative also seeks to identify opportunities for collaboration, capacity building, and policy alignment across Africa. In the opening remarks, the speakers emphasized the need to make school leadership deliberate, professional, and evidence-led.

ADEM is the only Tanzanian education institution under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology attending the workshop as it is the only institution mandated to professionalize school leadership and governance through training, research, and consultancy, which mirrors the purpose of the validation workshop.

Validation workshop day one consisted of an opening ceremony, a presentation of mapping findings, a question and answers session, a panel discussion, group discussions, a plenary, and networking.
