ADEM–VVOB Partnership Lays Strong Foundation for Improved School Leadership in Tanzania

The Agency for the Development of Educational Management (ADEM), in collaboration with VVOB – Education for Development, has reached a major milestone in strengthening school leadership in Tanzania following the successful implementation of the LIT-LEAD Project.

As part of the project, a team of education experts conducted an extensive data collection exercise across six regions of Tanzania Mainland that are Mbeya, Singida, Katavi, Simiyu, Manyara, and Morogoro aiming to assess the current state of school leadership practices and identify priority areas for improvement.

The project also helped the development of practical and context specific training manuals, which are now ready to be used in training secondary school heads across Tanzania Mainland. The manuals are designed to enhance leadership, management, and instructional supervision skills, ultimately improving teaching and learning outcomes in schools.

Speaking during the project overview meeting, ADEM Chief Executive, Dr. Maulid J. Maulid, commended the strong partnership between ADEM and VVOB, noting that the collaboration is timely and impactful.

“This partnership between ADEM and VVOB is a strategic one. It has laid a solid foundation that will bring about positive and sustainable change in school leadership, particularly in secondary schools across Tanzania,” said Dr. Maulid.

On his part, VVOB Global Director of Programmes Mr. Tom Vandenbosch expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved under the project.

“We are very pleased with how the collaboration with ADEM is progressing. The groundwork has been well conducted, and we are confident that we are now ready to begin the training of school heads in Tanzania,” he said.

The LIT-LEAD Project is expected to play a critical role in strengthening leadership capacity among school heads, contributing to improved school management and better learning environments for students nationwide.
